Found a VW indy close to our hotel. Going to take it over at 1300 and he is going to put it on the lift. We will see. I talked to insurance bubba and he said $250 deductible, have to file a claim…wait until it’s reviewed….wait for them to decide where I can take the car…..leave the car for several days more than likely. Did a quick search and I think you're right. And now that I think about it, I
recall observing at one point that the insurance companies took the two
accidents that are most likely to happen around here (collision with another
car, and hitting a deer) and put them into separate coverage types, so you have
to buy both.

I think I would go back to the dealer and get it up on a hoist so you
can see if there is anything else that got whacked. Wouldn't think it
should be too expensive to have them button it up. Bad luck but
hopefully minimal damage.

A few years back I had a Honda Civic for a bit. Would probably still
have it if I had more parking spot. I ran over something in the dark in
a construction zone. Still don't know what it was - maybe a rock or a
piece of broken concrete? Maybe something off of another vehicle as it
sounded sort of metallic at the time. I crawled under to have a look the
next morning when it was light outside and could see no damage apart
from a couple of scratches on a cross member. I felt fortunate as it was
a cold wet night and I was probably 20 miles from home. The car ran fine
and steered normally and the oil pressure stayed OK so I felt safe in
continuing on home but it was a bit of a concern until the next morning
when I got a look underneath it.

I know the belly pan is held on with Torx screws but I don’t know the

moving into our Vrbo) looking for a ramp-like place I could pull up on
to be able to get underneath, but I suppose I will have to get very
creative ‘cause I see nothing obvious.

Or, should I just go back to the stealer where I just got my oil
changed and ask if they could button it back up? Or, look for an Indy?
Or buy a Torx set and look for a “ramp”.
