I agree. One of my Jack points is already rusted out. Repairing it will
probably be this summers project.

If the car has the jack stand pads I use the factory jack to raise the
car, and place the jack stand underneath the pad. I actually like the
factory jack... so long as there are jack stands involved as well!!

I like the idea of the crank, rods and pistons holding up a table, that'd be
cool. Mount the crank on a base to give it stability... Might try that with the
junker 190D engine...

Hmm - that would make two coffee tables then -
I was thinking of pulling the crank, rods, pistons, cleaning and epoxying
them in the appropriate positions, and sitting a peice of glass on top of
them. SWMBO vetoed the idea.

V-8s make great coffee tables. Take the oil pan off the bottom so the
block sits flat, take the heads off the top, pull the pistons, all the
valve gear, etc., just leaving the bare block. Then
Put a small piece of 2x4 lumber on top of the jack stand.

It's just that they're large, bulky, and I'm running out of room in this
tiny house/lot. It is the logical thing to do - so I'll have to shuffle some
of my crap, might even get rid of some of it. Anyone want a dead iron M117

Just get some 2x12s, pressure treated then you can just leave them
outside somewhere, cut them down and stack pieces (nailed well) so you
can drive up on them easily. I have some metal ones a neighbor gave me
some time ago, they are actually not very pricey to buy.

I use the jack points for my stands. They are pretty hefty and were

I cut pieces out of tire sidewalls and use them on the jacks and jackstands.
