Start-stop has been around for years in lots of different cars in the US,
including Mercedes.
As for the Nissian/Mercedes engine link, this is also old news. Check this

My 911 did the same, I think it's some kind of eco mode designed to save fuel.

I drove a Jeep at the 2015 Chowdah Q that did this. You come to a stop, after
a few seconds the engine shuts off. As soon as you put your foot on the gas to
