One would assume that the issue would be the need for the phone to be Verizon

Good to know. I wasn’t aware of this, as I had looked at the Google thing a
while back while searching for an alternative for one of the boy’s phone plans.
And Mitch - the Spectrum plan allows tethering, at least I don’t see anything
in the agreement that doesn’t permit it. That’s what I’ll be

I'm using an Nexus 5x. Works fine. Used ones are less than $100.

Yes, $34/mo is very good for unlimited.
Fantastic if they allow tethering.
I could use something like that to replace my home internet if I can tether it,
or if the SIM card will work in a hotspot. I wonder if the data gets throttled
if you go over a usage cap.
The MNVO I'm with was
That's pretty good pricing.

The Spectrum plan is unlimited talk and text, $14/month per gig, or you can go
unlimited for $34/month.
And they piggyback on Verizon, so our coverage is no different that if we were
still on Verizon, who has by far the best network down here and in most other
places, too.

Nothing you can't get from other MNVOs who likely don't make it a standard
business practice to sell your call logs.
$20 a month, free talk and text, plus $10 for each GB is inherently inferior to
the following Tracfone plans, for example:
$20/mo for talk and text plus one GB, unlimited
You can only use the Pixel or select Motorola phones, all of which are fairly
expensive.
Spectrum (Charter in other parts of the world) is offering phone service now. I
can BYOD and it costs me $14/mon per LTE gig, nothing else. Most of what I do
is with wifi, so right now I’m into the billing

If you don't use internet, it's not too bad. They probably track everything
imaginable. I can use up to 20gb of data a month. That would put me over $200 a
month. No thanks.
I just learned about this:
