Re: [MBZ] Mercedes Digest, Vol 135, Issue 123

2017-02-27 Thread Karl Wittnebel via Mercedes
Specifically, from the previously linked thread. He ordered them both and
either one works:

Anyway, the drive belt is broken. Now, how to get a new one?

It is a trapezoidal toothed belt about 6mm wide by ~122mm long, with 60
teeth. Pitch is ~2mm, and height of teeth is 0.5mm, total height
(thickness) of belt is ~1mm. Markings are simply “Pirelli” and “E9”.

I got no useful hits from googleing, but the following options from
McMaster Carr might work:
Form - Belts
Type - Timing Belts
Timing Belt Type - Single-Sided with Trapezoidal Teeth
Number of Teeth - 60
Outer Circle - 4.8"
Belt Width - 1/4"
Timing Belt Series - MXL Series
Pitch .08"
Color Black
Trade Size Material Cord Material Each
48MXL Neoprene Fiberglass 7887K73 $3.01
60MXL Urethane Kevlar 1679K66 $2.43

I could not even find the item on their web site. I am not sure they are the
only providers though. I have cleaned four antennae? and all had their own
belts, none the same

I understand the mindset, but I don?t think it?s endemic.

My youngest is putting out resumes and applying for jobs daily now that he?s
graduated. The worst part of all this is that the current industry climate in
the environmental business, no matter where you are, is to circle the wagons
and hunker down. He?s applying for really crappy public works jobs that will
give him some broader experience to try and improve his potential for getting a
?real? job. I have been using what favors I have to try and get him into the
County so he might be able to get a start in the environmental business with
them. In the meantime he works at a local golf course where rich white guys
shove cash at him for taking care of their golf carts.

This is a real conundrum for him - it?s not uncommon for him to come home with
a
