Re: [MBZ] Need W123 Hirschmann antenna for W123 coupe
Well, it fits but won't deploy at half mast. Anyone know how this works - or doesn't? It isn't the antenna switch - I swapped that out. The antenna simply retracts all the way when switched into the half way position. Does someone on the list have a working Hirschmann power antenna from a W123 coupe they're willing top part with... Well, it fits but won't deploy at half mast. Anyone know how this works - or doesn't? It isn't the antenna switch - I swapped that out. The antenna simply retracts all the way when switched into the half way position. The antenna has switches and cams inside, along with one relay. The dash switch selects which cammed switches are active, the relay is powered by the radio through the dash switch. It's a straightforward thing, and the car's own schematic usually shows enough to troubleshoot it. In '86 they went to an electronic timer arrangement in the antenna, along with belt drive. It can lower the antenna to an inch, whereas the earlier cam-driven unit will _not_ go below the half-mast position, except on its way to fully retracted. -- Jim ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Need W123 Hirschmann antenna for W123 coupe
I pulled a couple of antennas at the junkyard, one off a 126 in hopes of fixing the Mama Benz, and it was completely different from the one in the car. I had another one I got out of a 123 and it was yet again different. There must be a bunch of different models or something, the connectors were all different, and the guts were different too. I thought I might be able to build a Frankantenna but I gave up. I ended up cleaning and sorta rebuilding the one in the car, and it sorta works, but I just raised the mast half way and disconnected the power to the motor so it wouldn't have fits. You might want to open it up and see what the issue is with it, they aren't particularly complex. --R andrew strasfogel wrote: So does anyone have one of these lying around gathering dust?
