Using WKI(PDF) 83-150
Have every thing removed referred to, except some thing called 'cover' with
no reference WKI-PDF number.
I now believe that this is the wood trim on the dash above the vent. I
believe this to be true now because the vent frame will slide a bit toward
the glove box and this disengages a metal tab into the small square metal
frame that the ignition lock covered by. Looking up under the dash I can see
a small lip on the bottom of the vent frame that would clear the opening if
it could be slid upward and maybe rotated out. The wood strip is preventing
this..

How is the wood trim removed with out trashing it ??

Years ago I had a 1970 280SE and some neighborhood hoodlums removed the
radio from it the hard way. I remember replacing the wood trim on it but
cannot remember how hard it was. I do remember replacing the 4 sidewise
heater control rubber 'knobs' and I had bloody fingers for some time.
