Re: [MBZ] OM606 Serp Belt tension device arm

INA seems to be a good source, they had the right size for the alternator
on my '87 wagon with OM603. Not sure if they have a catalog to show all
the alternators that they fit.

If for your MB, I'm sure they've got one. If another application and the
alternator is a Bosch, I'll bet they have that too.

Are these generally available for various types of alternators, or will
one have difficulty locating one for any specific vehicle?

That question seems rather convoluted and difficult to understand, but I
cannot think of another way to phrase it at the moment.

Took me about an hour to do this job. Both the old pin and the pivot arm
were worn out, so both needed replacing. I probably could have re-used the
pulley wheel, but didn't. Next will be the little shock, and I should
replace the alternator pulley with the overrunning type (OAP) to reduce the
wear and tear on the whole serpentine belt tensioning system.

[MBZ] OM606 Serp Belt tension device arm

2021-07-24 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
No longer has bearings, it's just the arm with a steel sleeve inserted, and
then it rotates a big metal pin. Weird. As far as I can tell, one cannot
purchase this as a kit or assembly, the arm, the pulley wheel, and the pin
are all sold separately.

I'm going to try to tackle this job later today or maybe tomorrow, as the
arm has become cock-eyed and is making a horrible shrieking noise. Unsure
of which part(s) have gone bad, I ordered all three for about $150.
