The Hess by my house does an automatic hold on any
credit card for $75 minimum, according to them it's to
prevent driveoffs (whaahh

That is the main reason I use cards is for pay at the pump!!! I really
dislike diesel stations that don't have pay at the pump... I don't

Yes the pump shuts off at $50. You have to put the nozzle back,
complete the transaction, then start another transaction if you want

Use a debit card and there's no hold.

Do not believe it to be related to any kind of a 'credit limit ' on my card,

I regularly go over that amount. Mine is a VISA debit.

limit issues for me, but typically, when I see the pump, the guy ahead of
me (poor guy) pumped $200 worth.
Must be a regional/station specific thing.
The MasterCard limit is higher. I don't have a MasterCard, only VISA
and Discover.
I don't think it has anything to do with whether it's a credit or debit
card.
Now that I think about it, I don't recall seeing any limits posted with
regards to Discover maybe I'll try that card next time.

on Visa, $75 limit on M/C. If you want 30 gallons of $4 diesel,

Around here (Northwest Indiana) it seems to be a station by station thing. Some
have limits, some don'
