Nah, pimping it would require much bigger wheels and chrome, spinning wheel
covers. ;<)

Re: [MBZ] OT - Chainsaw engines; was B-29

2009-05-05 Thread Archer

Hi Bill,
Sorry I couldn't make it. Glad you got your shift problems fixed. I
thought about buying a decorative cane for special occasions but this cheap
aluminum cane works so well around the shop I've never bought one. I use it
to push boxes around, turn on light switches, pull stuff around with the
crook, etc. Big complaint is that gimp leg slows me down so much while
doing stuff in the shop.  As far as being up late, I'm a nightcrawler;
always have been; hospital labs loved me because I would work permanent
night shift.
Maybe I'll manage to get together with you the next time; hope so anyway.
How about a MelroseQ? There are several more of us Mercedes nuts around
North Florida, you know. (grin)

Gerry
-
Hi Gerry - We missed you Saturday, but Manfred did a good job in adjusting
the throttle linkages on the SD and that has almost taken care of my shift
problems. He also put in a monitor light to see if the GPs come on during
driving [not yet].

I always have a cane in the car and often use it. I could get along without
it most of the time, but decided to be proactive with that and started
collecting canes about 12 years ago when I knew I would be needing them
about now. My feet were crushed in a car wreck in 1971, and it was just a
matter of time. I've got a nice collection at this point [always looking
for more], but my favorite is a hand carved walnut dragon made in Vietnam.
I got it the day my oldest granddaughter was born. As I am starting to need
them more and more at least I have some 'fun' ones to use. A souped up
Segway could be fun, too.
You are sure up late.

I've considered putting a coupla chainsaw engines on my walker. It has
a

seat, of course, and hand-operated brakes. There's plenty of room under
the
seat for 2 engines. I can easily add throttle cables, and I could steer
with differential braking. I'd probably use bigger, pneumatic
wheels/tires
to provide smoother ride and reduce possible forward tipping on cracks,
etc., with the small, hard plastic original wheels. ;<))

Thrust differential steering from independent engine throttling?

Actually, I may be able to put FOUR of those under the seat, but my first
thought was to keep it simple with direct chain drive to the two rear, non
pivoting wheels. These two wheels on my motorized version would become the
front wheels with the two castered wheels (now front) following in the rear.
Working out a drive system for the castered wheels would make it more
complicated, or I could make them stationary, too, and steer by differential
braking and throttling. ;<)))

[MBZ] OT - Chainsaw engines; was B-29

2009-05-04 Thread WILTON
I've considered putting a coupla chainsaw engines on my walker. It has a
seat, of course, and hand-operated brakes. There's plenty of room under the
seat for 2 engines. I can easily add throttle cables, and I could steer with
differential braking. I'd probably use bigger, pneumatic wheels/tires to
provide smoother ride and reduce possible forward tipping on cracks, etc., with
the small, hard plastic original wheels. ;<))
