Undiagnosed strut failure on my Jetta caused the fronts to rapidly wear. Now that I have replaced them the tire pressure monitoring nanny is unhappy. I think this car has the more primitive tire pressure monitoring system where it's actually monitoring rotation rate and comparing the wheels,

[MBZ] OT AWD and tire wear

So I realized today that the tires on the Element had been neglected as far as regular rotation. As a result, the fronts were significantly more worn than the rears. Reading about how the AWD works on that car, it's normally FWD with a hydraulic clutch that engages the rear wheels when needed.
