The governor is a "Republican", we all "MA Republican" anyway. He's said he

He has encouraged people to rat out their neighbors though which has shades of

Those kind of vision experiences are why I've started dialing back my blood
pressure medication. If I jumped out of bed to go to the bathroom I needed to
know where the wall was so I could catch myself. Now only taking the pill 4
days a week those symptoms have gone from 50% of the time to about 10%. If I
sit up and pause for a second before I get up it never happens. My BP checking
machine says I'm normal, as low as 117/78, never more than 121/82. These are
the lowest readings I've ever had.

My governor wants to close gyms even though he admits that the bulk of new
COVID cases are from holiday parties at private homes. I wrote him an email

The better sensors have a little waveform graph. It has to have a smooth
sinusoidal pattern to get a good reading.

In hospital, we say everything over 92% is fine. Around 90% and lower, there
is a sigmoidal relationship between the hemoglobin saturation and the
partial pressure of oxygen. This helps the blood cells/hemoglobin rapidly
give up its oxygen when the blood gets to the peripheral capillaries:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen%E2%80%93hemoglobin_dissociation_curve

What it means in practice is that you don't want to be 90 or lower. That
would be abnormal for sure. 95-97 not a big deal. Parts of the lung actually
collapse when we are sedentary for example, leading to lower
(95-97) readings, and when we exert ourselves and breathe deeper/harder we
recruit those areas of the lung again. So you could be 97 then climb a
flight of stairs and be 99.

Yes normally humans with healthy lungs walk around at 97% or better.
Anything under 92% is dodgy. It is usually measured with little red light
things you put on your finger or ear lobe; you can buy little battery
powered versions on Amazon for ~$20.

When otherwise healthy people get hypoxic like that, it is an indication
that something is seriously wrong in the lung parenchyma. With COVID, it
sets up inflammation that thickens the barrier across which oxygen has to
diffuse to get to your red blood cells.

The scary part is that some of you could have been superspreaders and not
known it, leading to unknown numbers of fatalities.

Theoretically of course. Only contact tracing could have determined this
with any certainty.

I suspect I could have had it in February.  I was actually out in
California at the time and most of that week I felt like crap.  I never
had a cough but felt like I had a fever and was somewhat strange and out
of the blue.

I think that's still the treatment. Two of my boys had it, one brought
it home from school at Thanksgiving break, the other presumably got it
from him. They tested positive for COVID but had mild cases, worst of it
was a sore throat that felt like strep for a couple of days.

I have been supplementing Vitamin D, C, and Zinc since March, for
whatever that has been worth, I never developed any symptoms. We didn't
take any particular precautions in the house, though the sick ones spent
most of their time in their rooms.

I still suspect I may have had it back in late January. I came down with
a weird cough that lasted about a week. A fair number of international
students including Chinese work in my office, and no doubt some had been
home during the Christmas break.

Or your body managed it with T-Cells instead of antibodies.
My sister, when finally well enough to be released from the County
Health Department's quarantine, went in for testing and was positive on
antibodies and negative on virus, according to the tests. (which is what
you'd normally expect from somebody whose immune system just killed a

What treatment did they have, especially early on?
My sister had zero treatment. For at least three weeks she was so sick
that it was a major task just to go to the front door for a bag of
groceries and drag it to the refrigerator 20' away. (bedroom to front
door is more than 20')
This was back in May, when standard treatment was 'go ahead and feel
like crap until it runs its course, and call an ambulance if you're
dying'
