I would contact them and leave it up to them as to what they want to do. It’s likely they would just tell him to keep it. I was at home Despot a few weeks ago and missed scanning something in my cart. When I got out to my car and started unloading, I realized it (it was a paint scraper that cost maybe $5). I went back inside to the service desk with it and told them I needed to pay for it as I had forgotten to scan it. They gave me 25% off. This was in Flagstaff, I would point out. I sent an email to the guy I know who lives in this little development up the road a bit, he sent a mail off to the neighbors then decided to go on a reconnoiter and finds the box in front of a container down a little gravel road that a guy uses to park his 4wheeler he uses to go out the bridge to the island where his house is.
