Wow that’s even worse than mine I think. It’s not fowling the plugs?

I think we might be to the gallon/1000 miles level. It's _quite_ thirsty!
Pretty much every fueling also requires oiling.

Angie's Golf calls for either 5w30 or 5w40. With 5w30 it consumes oil like
crazy, to the point I was generally worried, like a quart in 1000 miles.
With 5w40 it barely uses any, like a quart and a half in 10,000 miles.
Weird...

Around 220k I believe. I have not checked but I would guess it used a qt every
1-1.5k miles. Seems like a lot to me but I don’t think it’s worth messing with.

My '04 E500 (M113) used about a quart between changes; I've only changed oil
once since I owned it. I used 5W40 M1; the 0W40 was not available at WalMart
here. I consider that level of oil use to be comparable to other cars I've
owned.

I’m running 15w40 in the 05 e320 m112 and it still uses oil. I guess these
engines are oil burners as they age.

What weight oil are you running in it?
I ask because my youngest son’s 2002 E320, which is approaching 150k, having
purchased it around 90k, was consuming an inordinate amount of oil. He drove it
from Flagstaff to Denver last summer and had to top it off several times on the
trip.
I did some
Head gasket leak would be showing oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil
would it not? or can they leak in a way that just consumes oil?

My wife's 2000 E320 4matic has a tremendous appetite for oil,
but doesn't really seem to be leaking it. It has 350kmi on it.
Is this likely to be a leaking head gasket, causing consumption,
or valve stem seals? Not looking forward to either job, but I
did the stem seals on a couple of the SL's
