[MBZ] Photography, was - The death of high fidelity
I'm impressed with the Leitz lens on my Panasonic FZ30 - as a snap shot camera. I only wish the wide angle end was wider. It's a good camera for a play toy, and will have to do until something serious comes out that both impresses me, and I can afford. I need to find a digital body to use on my slide copier - with the Zeiss 74 S-Planar, optimized for 1:1. I hate scanning negs/slides. Re: [MBZ] Photography, was - The death of high fidelity
The best quality snapshot pictures I ever took were with a little Rodenstock 2 x 2 bellows camera my brother-in-law brought back from Germany after WW-2. The detail was fantastic. A photographer I worked for had a Speed Graphic with a (?)Berlin lens that he gaurded with his life. It was an exceptional lens. the leica guys all seem to repudiate that lumix product. most of my quick snap shooting has been done with very low end fuji cameras as they are so simple. canon 10D has been my main camera for the last 5 years or so and will probably continie to be forever On Dec 30, 2007 3:39 PM, Jeff Zedic [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I bought my Panasonic Lumix because of its big Leica lens. What's the number on your low-end Fuji camera? I don't like my Nikon 4600 for snap shooting. A friend, who was an Army photographer, has a Leica Deluxe 3 which he loves. It does take great pictures but it's somewhat expensive. My favorite film camera is an old Fuji SLR with nothing electronic but the light meter. Re: [MBZ] Photography, was - The death of high fidelity
i'm on my 3rd one. this last one is a 5.1 megapixel tiny shirt pocket size one. the first one was a 1 megapixel job that i still have that was shaped like an ordinary camera. i bought it new for 50 bucks. then i bought a new one in the same style as that one for 150, but that one was quickly lost/stolen. teh shirt pocket one was like 30 bucks on ebay. it was sold by one of those distressed electronic floor model liquidator types with no promise regarding performance. i bought a $5 new battery and it works fine. There's always the Panasonic twin --- Lumix DMC-LX2 http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/leica-d-lux-3/4505-6501_7-32106926.html There are a few differences, with pluses for each one. Interesting, and the Canon Powershot would also be a candidate. One thing I liked about the Leica was the big LCD screen on the back.
