This is very interesting. So the hose slides onto a pipe and is secured by a ferrule? Yes, the ferrule is just a permanent clamp that won't skin your knuckles (in theory) Take it off, replace the hose and put on a clamp. The fitting is all that is important.

My only currently "running" Benz is the pagoda so that's what I plan on taking to the Q on Saturday. When I parked it last October, I knew in advance that it would need a tune up- distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser so I purchased the parts last fall to have ready to install when I got it
