My brother has a '42 International K-7 flatbed that he got for $800. It was painted with latex house paint long ago, but after many decades in Oregon it was so covered with moss that you could hardly see the paint. I did him the favor of blasting the moss off with a pressure washer when I borrowed it once. "Oh, MAN!" my brother said when he saw it. "Now you've ruined the patina!" No worries--as soon as it rained, the moss bloomed again. I think it's almost back to where it was. I expect lichen to join it soon. Brother is once again happy. Unrestored doesn't begin to describe it. The tires are from the early sixties and have fissures in the tread the size of sidewalk cracks. I powerwashed them, too, just to show him how bad they were. He approved of that. "Nice siping job," he said. But it runs great-- he's pulled semis hundreds of miles with it. 89 hp and ten gears. First low range is so low that at idle, it would loose a race with the minute hand of a clock. When you let the clutch out, for a while all you here are little clicks as the lash gets taken up in the trans, the u-joints, and the rear end. Eventually, it starts creeping forward. That is a truck.
