I am in a bind over being able to source a tire that performs to the design
specifications of the car. I can put lower speed tires that fit the OEM
rim, or upsize to rims
I've been using Michelin primacy on the w210's and pilots on the 123.
Big difference from the Pirelli (p4000?) that were on the 123, and the
Bridgestone potenza's that were on one of the 210's.
The P4000's had comparatively horrid traction (dry, abominable wet) and felt
like inner tubes or
When I bought tires at Costco for the 300SD the guy made me sign a
waiver as the tires available were not the proper (speed) rating. He
explained it had more to do with their ability to handle a big heavy car
thrashing around and do it according to the intent of the MB engineers.

I am pretty sure you can find all sorts of tire from any diameter, the trick is
to find them with the performance speed ratings needed. The smaller wheel cars
of the past decade are probably going to be fine with an S rated tire, which is
about the best I can find for the 14. Not good enough

My 250LWB had 15 steel wheels. I chose them instead of the 14 bundts that
were offered by the seller.
I think the car handled and drove a lot better with 15 wheels than the 123s I
had previously that had the 14 bundts.

OE steel wheels are on there now. They have very old rubber and an offset of 23

aftermarket wheels (ugly). The front tires would rub on the innner fender
wells when the wheel was cranked to the stop, and might rub the fender
opening if you hit a large bump during a turn. Otherwise, they were fine.
