Re: [MBZ] Shelving
I have built a lot of rough shelves for the basement and garage. I use 2x4s for the framing and plywood for the shelves. OSB board would also serve. I basically build each corner as a pair of 2x4s nailed in an L shape. These run vertically from the floor to top of shelf. Shelves are 2x4 spanning the width across the front and back, inside the L corners, with plywood on top to form the shelf. Depending on the width/length of the shelf, thickness of the plywood, and weight of stuff to be supported, this may require some cross bracing, so the shelf frame would end up looking something like a ladder lying horizontal between the corners. These are quite cheap and simple to build if you have a skil saw and a nail gun. They are sort of permanent structures though, they end up being heavy and not easy to take apart, and not easy to change the spacing of the shelves. I guess I am going to have to go down and look in person. I looked at the Lowes and HD websites and I do not see anything like I bought in the past. I had bought 4-5 units in the past but its been a couple of years. They used to have these units that were pretty decent priced and good sized. I am not seeing anything in the price range I am thinking I paid before. They used to have what I believe was called gorilla shelves (brand) or something like that but I do not see them anymore.
