Didn't think about that - guess I'll have to got with the luck of the draw
there.  It is a pretty unlikely thing, but you never know.  Guess I should
have used some of my Delvac instead.

Careful with ATF, its red and if your tank gets dipped (unlikely but still)
they could tag you for dyed untaxed diesel...

Marshall suggested a quart of motor oil every so often. I do it twice a year
spring and fall to add some lubrication. Seems like the engine runs quite a
bit quieter when I'm using it.

I've maybe got a line on some SVO for $1.50 a gallon. I figure even if I'm
only mixing 25% I'll be saving alot of cash vs $4.19 diesel. If I blow the
engine I blow the engine and get a 35mpg gas car and still save money.

You are correct in assuming it is the car.  Does raise some interesting
 [!]
possibilities, though.
I think I put too much cleaner in the last tank of fuel as it was
 behaving
quite badly.  I thought the engine was going to pull a 'Chinese fire
 drill'
at one stop.  That pretty much cleared up for a time, but then the
 injector
pump started making noise.  Added a can of ATF [Castrol was on sale at
FLAPS] and that seemed to quiet it down pretty much.  I do seem to have
 a
coolant leak though, and some shaking just above idle.  I'll put a new
thermostat in just in case and check out the leak.
