] Something practical to combat high fuel prices
This is the USA, why should the government regulate what people drive?
If those fools want to drive hummers around, let them. They can either
pay the higher fuel cost or take some responsibility and realize the are
wasting what valuable resourses of oil
to hear it.

We are ALREADY close to $3.00 a gallon and it might go higher!!
Yes,
cartels (which is basically what's being suggested, a cartel of buyers of
gasoline) work just great on the open market, just ask any decent
economics professor.
So let's think this through a bit. We're supposed to stop buying gas from
Exxon and Mobil until the prices hit $1.30. Do the
Interesting concept but according to these guys it won't work

Looks like their solution it to get rid of california ;)
exatly - average person would never hold out. ONly a
few and they would make no difference.
Now, if the teamsters parked all their trucks in DC
and all over the beltway, then something might happen.
Works in France all the time for farmers (tractors in
Paris).

Another reason this will not work is that the distillate feedstocks have
been standardized and companies often buy products from competitors if the
cost of transportation is lower. The only thing that varies from
brand-to-brand is the additive package. That is why most fuel delivery
trucks are

I am not a mindless Mobil-hater because of Movbil 1. Au contraire, I
sort of admire their business acumen in developing these synthetic
products. I even occasionally gas up at a Mobil station, because I
like the logo and color scheme and their price isn't as high as some
