There are two sets of points for Djet. The normal ones are available, the Trigger Points are NLA. Those can be rebuilt. Had my indy do two sets, so I had a spare. The wiring harness fails, the contacts need to get cleaned of oily muck. VERY carefully clay I have no pronouns please do not refer to me. > On May 10, 2020, at 7:09 AM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes > wrote: > > Points are no longer available for d jet cars? > > On 5/10/2020 8:25 AM, Peter Frederick via Mercedes wrote: >> Biggest problem with D-Jet is worn distributot and oil on the trigger >> points, which are no longer available. Garbage fuel. The seller is pretty spot on that fuel system needs going over. Filter is probably good, same with fuel pump. Fuel lines will want replace if any alcohol fuel has been used. I get misfires using pump fuel, but alcohol free fuel causes no issues at all. Might have issues with the injectors leaking or not spraying well. That was another trouble I rectified in my SL. Costly, but it avoided an engine fire to get the perished rubber gone. Seller says the thing ran well last summer. Nobody messed with EFI which would be the big no-no for Djet. Leaving MAP and the intake temp sensor as possible failure points. Those can impact running, but not as much as garbage fuel does. Looks like a decent project car that runs for a fair price. There could be many more troubles that want addressing, not disclosed. Not a fan of blue on blue. On a sunny day up north it would be a great top down joy ride clay I have no pronouns please do not refer to me. > On May 9, 2020, at 11:21 PM, M. I already ran away. When I think about it, I feel that the only project I would ever take on would be a late 60s early 70s 200D or 220D Manual transmission, something like unto my first MB. FI trigger points are different than ignition points. Weren't readily available 15 years ago when I needed a set . They go in the lower part of the dizzy and operate the fuel injection nozzles. Might get some through the Classic Center, but I'd bet they'd be $500 or more. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
