I played with the battery cable bolt some more, and it was unimproved
from yesterday. So I got out the grinder and cut away the side of the
frame, exposing the nut. Turns out it was a regular hex nut with a
press-in flange, and you _can_ reach it from below, but it was

I got the hinge pin straightened and skinned on the grinder
today, it works smoothly in the hinge arms. I reinstalled the
hinges, greased this time, and it's looking good. (The torsion
spring part of the job promises to beinteresting.
But I didn't need that to drive it, but I did need the

badly on the 380 SL, and I finally decided to do something about it.
(Squirting lubricants did no good.) It was a 12 hour nightmare just

I pulled
Truly a fine example of perseverance! One end of the spring was off in the
SLC I had, I never could get it back where it belonged. The trunk lid would
not stay open of it's own accord.

hammer
to yank those pins out.
Yeah. I don't have one, though, and I don't think there's any
room for one in there. Maybe if you took the fuel tank out...
