About 14 miles northeast of us. We had been looking at building in an area that 
was right on the southern edge of the fire. Guess it’s a good thing we didn’t. 
As with any wildfire, it sucked due to the loss of property, but fortunately no 
lives were lost. Extra volunteer time at the humane society, though, caring for 
all the animals that were brought in.

Elk don’t absorb much of an impact, they’re pretty stout animals. We’ve got 
them around our Flagstaff house. I definitely wouldn’t want to tangle with one, 
in a car or anything else for that matter.

I was wondering the exact same thing.

Elk don’t absorb much of an impact, they’re pretty stout animals. We’ve got 
them around our Flagstaff house. I definitely wouldn’t want to tangle with one, 
in a car or anything else for that matter.

My learned opinion is this vehicle is a total, and based on the year and
value [prior to being "elked"] it would/should have had full coverage
insurance.
SO $17,000 for the hulk + rebuild cost of another $15 to 25K [likely a
low number] and you have a "new vehicle" with a salvage title [forever, by
lemon law].
Since you will be underwater for value, does it come with scuba tanks and
dive cert class?
Pass.
