I like W123 diesels because they are reliable and easy to work on. I don't care 
about creature comforts nearly as much, but that said I have never driven a 
Mercedes newer than that.

It was my dads. He bought it a few years ago and it sat in his driveway and he 
never used it. He talked about cleaning it up and selling it then one day told 
me he didn’t was to mess with it and I could have it. I hauled it home. It 
needs to be cleaned up but is pretty nice. I think it’s a 2006. I need to 
replace the roof AC unit as the compressor appears to be locked up. It also 
needs both roof vent lids replaced as they are cracked and currently covered 
with plastic and plywood. Not leaking. He said something about a faucet leaking 
so not sure if he means it drips or it actually is leaking.  It will also need 
tires and bearing packed due to sitting. Need to work on getting it ready and 
perhaps haul it out west somewhere for a vacation, maybe somewhere in AZ.

My second diesel was a 1980 300D. Anthracite Grey with a Sienna or henna
interior, just the color you've got. Very handsome combination. I purchased
it for $15,000 in 1984 and sold a year later for $12,000.

This one has some hail damage and appears to have had some paint work over the 
years but the interior is really nice. I’m just not sure what I will end up 
doing with it but if I flip it surely I can get $3-4k for it if not more with 
the crazy prices people are paying for them.

I totally agree with you. The last W123 I had, the one I flipped on BaT after I 
had it for a few weeks and drove it, just didn’t end up doing a thing for me.
