Re: [MBZ] This is how I load stubborn cars

2015-07-11 Thread Scott Ritchey via Mercedes
The clip-on forks work fine except it's hard to see what you are doing with
the business-end of the forks (view blocked by bucket) and the forks are
stronger than your bucket lip. You will bend the lip of your bucket long
before the forks bend or you run out of hydraulics. For me they were fine
for unloading a 500 lb pallet but I bent the bucket on a tree big stump
(weight unknown).

They sell them on Amazon free shipping. I really want to get the qa forks
but I
may have to cheap out and same money with the clip on chain on ones.

Shipping is a major cost with this sort of thing. You can save
$50-100 if delivered to a commercial address instead of a residence or
farm. I had a tractor canopy delivered to the small convenience store
a half mile up the road; I just backed my little pickup up to the
18-wheeler and we slid the box (about 100 lb) out the back and into my
truck bed. Another time, they delivered a stump bucket right to my
(very
rural) house for no extra charge.
In that case, the 18-wheeler stopped in the road while I unloaded the
  (500
Lb) implement using clip-on forks on my tractor bucket. But real
pallet forks are way superior to the clip-on.

Another thought. If moving cars is primary, maybe (assuming you gave a
quick-attach loader) you should get a quick-attach plate and weld a couple
sections of rectangular tubing to it.

Well I will be moving a LOT of engines in the next few weeks, as well as tire
machine and lots of other stuff. So I will be using them quite a bit now but
later will only be occasional.
