I toyed with running the S210 (98 E320) wagon at 55 versus 65 on my short
commute to see if it had any noticeable effects. It’s only 20 miles of the 38
or so daily when I was doing it, but I figured it might make a difference. And
the difference driving 55 mph for 20 miles versus 65 mph can’t
It's keeping the speed down that does it, if I let it get over 70mph it'll
barely make 50mpg on the way to work which loses 600' of elevation.

Best I've ever done in the Golf is 47.5, but then I have to stop 15 times on
the way to work, 17 if I hit the lights wrong on the "short" route.
Rear brakes drag, in the process of changing the rear rotors (as soon as it
quits raining!) so that should go up a little.
My brother routinely got
Jeez, Curt. That is really good.
The best I ever managed in any of TDI Jetta’s was 50.4. And that was an
automatic. My 2014 Passat did 45mpg @ 75mph coming back from San Diego in
October.

I am reminded that yesterday I had to go into the office. I took it slow to
see what my 2015 Jetta TDI is capable of. The 60 miles in returned just over
58mpg, the return got just over 55. I kept the speed to no more than 65 mph and
mostly 60. In fact I didn't think to try for a high mileage

Yes, with about 80-90hp less than a 2.0L Chevy.
Makes about 3hp more on Premium than my (tuned) 1.4L Chevy makes on Regular.
Either that or MBZ underrated it (I hope).
I had the hood up on the Sprinter today. It also has plastic covers of various
sizes and shapes, under which I’m sure lies a 3.0l V6 Diesel engine. Everyone
who has driven her says that she is very easy to drive and does very well on
the road. My niece said that the cabin is designed much more
Doubtful they'll last that long.
Too much plastic, too much is unrepairable, or cost of repairs quickly
exceeds value of vehicle.
