Installed Ubuntu using virtual DAEMON to mount the image - I couldn't get a bootable disk out of my system. Thus far it is a series of frustrations, with not being able to get online [though it says on one screen that it is] and not being able to get email. I'll probably play with it some more,

If you make a CD from the .iso file, you don't have to do anything special to make it bootable. The iso is an image of a bootable CD, so the copy made from it will be bootable. The BIOS of the computer needs to be set to boot from CD before booting from hard disk some older PC BIOSs don't
