Well that's good news! Once you get it sorted, come drop it at my place
and pick up one of my cars to drag back for parts.

Verify the temp reading with another thermometer -- it could be the gauge.

I would replace the thermostat, they often don't work well after being
overheated.
Check the operation of the electric fan if so equipped as well.

I did not replace the thermostat now, but did not too long ago and it had the
effect of the car always running too cool later ran the correct temp. I do have
another new one on hand. Since I’m draining it again anyway I’m half tempted to
just go ahead and replace it again.

Did you put in a new thermostat? Could it be sticking or not the
correct temp? In any case that is not concerning temp at the ambient
temp, maybe a bit high but within tolerance

I just took it out on the highway up to 70mph for a couple of miles. Temp stays
right at the same spot. I wonder if it’s due to straight water? Or maybe I just
just put a new radiator in it since I don’t know the history of the one I did
put in it.

I'd not be too upset by that temp idling with the AC on at 95F.
You should be getting the high speed electric fan cycling at that temp though.
Get proper coolant in it soon though -- water will be boiling in the head if
the pressure isn't high enough.

95 seems kind of hot, but not enough to get worried about.
If it was 90 I might not think anything of it.
Mitch.

After finally getting all the air out of the system after swapping out the
radiator it still seemed to get hot to me. Today I swapped out the fan clutch
with a new acp (?) one from FCP. Box says Borg Warner. Anyway it seems to be
engaging fine. Let car run for about 20 minutes then let it set
