Interestingly, there were two late model S-Class cars (S550's ?) in for work
from my local dealer. Seems like someone needed some
And maybe the st--, uh, dealer, had PO'd him about something at some time,
too, including cost of head lamp assemblies.

I'm not sure how I'm going to get it open now. Now you know why I immediately
thought of gunplay when mbz vandalism came up in discussion here.

JC Whitney sells a kit that will make it look like the real thing. It has
the diamond patterns plus yellow and red tape. This made me remember that I
repaired one and never followed up with a replacement.

A trick on some VWs is to remove the rear seatback, then use a long
string of socket extensions to remove the latch striker bolts. I don't
think the Mercedes latch striker can be removed that way, though.

Have you considered Goop instead of CA glue?
PMMA (poly-methyl-methacrylate, my materials science prof's
favorite plastic) is one of the things that CA glue works _very_
well on. Perhaps because they're both acrylics? And it makes
less of a mess to clean up.

Hmm, good point. I was thinking there was an area above the fuel tank
that passed all the way through, but I was thinking

I'm not sure. They did something inside the car, all the
lock buttons feel disconnected and the door panels are loose.
The trunk lock button has fallen into the trunk. I had disconnected
the battery and emptied the vac

I now think all the messing with the door panels was a

I drove my 1969 911E down to Houston to visit some friend once. Parked
it right out front of an upscale bar. Came back out an hour later and
some SOB had kicked in the passenger side door. So much for straight
body, original paint...
No offence to those of you in the big H, but that town sucks!
My most recent vandalism was when somebody broke a hole (with a hammer?) in
the RR taillight on the 1983 300TD wagon. If anybody has a spare, please
let me know.

If you have the pieces, they can be glued back with superglue to

Never thought of that - thanks - I'll look.

BTDT, way more than I ought. I'm my own vandal, at least so far
as Unimog taillight lenses go! The gap-filling kind works well for

while I was gluing it.
That lasted the year I had the car. It was hard to notice unless you knew it
was there.

Actually the problem my dad has is if he keeps the car clean people will
key
it. He says he has had it keyed 3-4 times in the month or two he has owned
it. But if it is dirty then people do not key it.
Where does he park the thing? Neither of my cars is EVER dirty and I've only
