Leave the bezel alone. Unless it is the steel body back there should
be two screws that allow the back to be slipped off. Even the steel
back has a way inside.

Bring it over to my hut and we can figure out how to fix it. I have
done a few clocks on my dining table. Or tell me where to go and I
will help you. You are still a Seattle lister, aincha?

As I have asked before, FIRST you need to tell us, definitively, whether
your clock is mechanical or electronic.

* They look the same from the face, except one says Quartz on it
* They're VERY different inside
* How you open them depends VASTLY on which one it is.

The quartz one needs the face un-swaged. That's great fun, especially
since you have to be careful so that you can put it back and have it
still look good. I have fixed them before, it takes me a couple of
hours.
The mechanical one is easy, the back cover is held on with three nuts,
one of them hidden behind a tamper-proof cap.

Someone have Jim Mahaffey's e-mail address? He's the
MB clock guru.

He's on faculty at Georgia Tech, I believe.

[MBZ] W115 Clock Repair

2007-08-07 Thread B Dike
All,

I'm still trying to figure out how to repair the clock in the 74 240D. The
case is a very solid one piece enclosed stamping and the bezel is swaged on.
Any suggestions on how to get at the innards without resorting to the Dremel
cutting wheel? Anyone have a working clock to spare?

Thanks,

Bruce
