Re: [MBZ] W115 Fuel Gauge Misbehavior
My sender got mostly somewhat better with biocide. Also probably the generic diesel additive or biodiesel for a few tanks would help clean up grit etc. I'd forgotten about the issue, my sender is fairly reliable now that you mention it but was bad when I first got the car (bad algae infection). I did not drop the tank nor pull the sender, just used biocide, but there were other evidences of algae so... If it were me, I would just put a gallon of diesel in the side of the trunk, if it's not rusted out*, and try some additives for the summer, though the previously-recommended cleaning solutions are definitely the thing to do if you want to fix it and forget it. (*Okay, that's not true, I was carrying 5 gallons, but 1 should do the same job. :) -Tim lazy to a fault On Tue, May 17, 2011 at 1:33 AM, B Dike wrote: > > Hi All, We've been nursing the W115 fleet along quite nicely...with one > annoyance: The fuel gauges are misbehaving in both vehicles. There is a four inch round port in the trunk floor, center with lines going in and out to the passenger side. Pop off the top and you have access to the fuel sender unit.
