Starter and alternator don't take up much space in relation to their replacement cost. I'd grab the fuse and relay panels complete before crushing too, along with the power antenna and probably the taillamps, turn signals and instrument cluster. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] W123 Starter
Bruce You may have already done this step, but you should first run a 12V jumper to your switch spade on the solenoid and see if it cranks, that will bypass your ignition switch and associated wiring. If it starts that way, your starter and solenoid pass the test. Re: [MBZ] W123 Starter
I usually jumper the starter relay (the small terminal with a wire going to it, to the the big cable) to see if the starter cranks. Be sure the car is out of gear. If it cranks, the trouble is probably in the switch or wiring. Tomorrow someone who is familiar with your cars wiring can probably tell you which terminals under the hood you can jumper instead of doing it directly on the relay. Another problem can be a poor ground cable from the engine to the chassis. Gerry -- - Original Message - From: "B Dike" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My 82 300CD starter refuses to respond. No click, nothing.
