One way to solve that with less financial pain and less repair time: get a good
used rear trailing arm and install that insitu. I think the sedan and the
wagon used the same bearing, need to confirm that.

Herbert my German mechanic said the whole thing has to come apart. Guess I
should find the fsm entry on that job. Need to put it up on a lift to
listen and be sure it isnt a differential issue. Either one seems rare. It
has new half shafts. Oh well.

No, but I suspect that is a bear of a job without the factory tools.
