I need a W123 back in my life. That white 240D Kaleb teased me with in that video is what I need since it was my first hard core MB lust. DIBS!! The looks, the sound, the feel….yeah. I think I’ve gotten over the idea I might consider wanting to buy a big-ass fifth wheel. That being said, I probably will sell my big-ass pickup in the next few months (2005 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 Cummins 5.9). Nine treatments down, 19 to go. Don't forget microwave ovens and shoe goo. I think the saying also (as pointed out) assumes paying for the work. I just took my 300D to a body shop to ask about reparing some rust on the front fenders, and respraying the front from the doors forward. They said they would have trouble matching the paint and would want to repaint the whole car, for $4,000, plus the parts and labor to replace the fenders. That right there is more than the car is worth. However I'm sure that if I had the knowledge, skills, and time I could do the repair and the painting for less than $500, would probably not look quite as nice as a pro job but I bet would be acceptable from 10 - 20 ft. JimC seems to be good at making 3.5s or even 3s out of crap and labor. Takes a lot of labor, but you can end up with a nice reliable ride. They don't usually end up looking much better, though. Surface conditions don't improve much with TLC. If you need new aluminum trim, paint, and upholstery there's really no substitute.
