I didn't feel a thing when I had my cardiac catherization a few years ago. I was asleep for the whole thing, got a big shot of morphine and nitroglycerine just before Doc did his thing. Brachial artery, too. It can be VERY painful, my Dad said it was worse than a compound fracture of his leg.
