K always meant Kurz or short, as in SS and SSK, SL and SLK also
Gewehr kurz as in a short rifle Mauser 98k or .22 kurz
I would imagine if you took a GLK offroad you would kurz the same as
if you took almost any current production 4WD offroad. They were
never built for that.

It means Kompakt these days. And was Kompressor before it became Kurz.
But in the case of the GLK, I suspect the decision was made by US-based
