Hi Marshall,

I agree with Rob. Having a 300TD and a 2000 Golf TDI, the TDI is
certainly not of inferior quality. It's our everyday driver and a lot
more comfortable than the 300TD, but mainly becuase the wagon needs
new weatherstripping and the steering is sloppy. The suspension in the
wagon is definitely
Interestingly I'm going through this math as well. My 240D is getting a bit
long in the tooth, I think its due for injectors soon plus a slew of other
little issues, and then theres this 190D for sale near me. Then I find out
within the next 6 weeks my job is relocating and increasing my 80
Hi Luther,
I have a 97' 3500 CTD that puts out 300RWHP with 210k miles on the clock.
It's running synthetics all through out.

springy like you'd expect. The mats have been replaced. Everything else shows
what I'd expect for wear on a car 1 year newer
Hi gang,
I know this has been asked at least once :-) but since the price of #2 is
over $3 bucks I had to park my Dodge Diesel (gets 20mpg) I'm looking to
spend about $3k on MBZ diesel.
My question to people in the know is which ones get the best mileage? I
drive about 600 miles per week and

Highway should be as much as low-mid 40s on 190D stick and turbo,
mid-upper 30s on the others, low 30s for the 2.5L W124 body 300D.
If you want to drive 60mph, you should get over 60mpg in the

I hear you on the Honda VX, my co-worker sold his VX to somebody here at
work with 320K miles on it and he said he got around 60mpg's with it. But
car is to small for me. I'll start my search for a 190D turbo model.
Thanks

My '92 Jetta D NA 5-speed regularly turned in 43+ mpg at 70. My 86
Golf, same engine, turned in 48 mpg at the same speed, as it had no
power steering, a bit taller gearing, and a more

I should warn you. 190D turbo was made only in 1987, something like 1600
total vehicles. It's the most fun to drive of the old MBZ diesels, so
it tends to sell high when a nice one is available. There was one
on eBay last night for
