I have not done any windshields in the past few years, but did a 123
with a gasket from Rusty, no problems. Replaced front, rear and door
gaskets on a 110 Diesel with a kit from the Rust man, again, no
problems. It is nice to have good door and windshield gaskets.

Thanks
hi Glenn!
we just recently had a new windshield put in our '85 300D as well,
in preparation for holiday travels.
one thing i'd add is that it was a challenge getting the insurance
company (AAA) to pay for the gasket, but we finally did get it approved.

Max,
Also IIRC, didn't Dr booth say it wasn't the same issue on a 124? My
300D 2.5t has glass installer windshield that John Peterson had put in
before he sold it to me: no special gasket and no leaks after 4 years.

The guys from Safelite returned today with an OE winshield gasket for my '84
300D from EuroSpec and had absolutely no problem with the installation. The
one fellow indicated that he immediately saw the difference in the corner
angles of their aftermarket gasket vs. the OE gasket.

Almost easier to list the ones that are _not_ glued in:
114/115, 123. (And probably the older ones,
such as 108, 110, 113, etc.)
Glued:
107, 124, 126, 201, probably all newer.

Bunches of times. I would be sure to find someone who
is familiar with older cars, that's all.
Also, UI would highly advise that you buy a new seal -
an OEM seal. It's good insurance.

Isn't his 190D new enough that that isn't an issue? I know on the W123
and older cars there is no sealant... just the seal. In those cases it
is very important to have the OE seal.

I had Safelite come out around Xmas and replace mine. Took 2x since the
first one cracked. Lifetime warranty on leaking etc. Check their site
often they have incredible deals. They beat everyone by 50% or more,
they do make their own glass. No problems since they put the second

Bzzzt. On the 123s and older there *is* a seal.
You're thinking about 126 chassis cars, which have a
windshield that is laid in place using some really
nasty adhesive.

make SURE that the tech you get has had experience with Mercedes-Benz

The 107, definitely older than the 123, uses butyl
