Yeah the dealer said that if I had the original key they could clone
it. But I didn't. All I had was a copy that didn't have a chip (I had
that made after several emergency "I locked my keys in the car"
incidents).
The locksmith was able to get the car computer programmed to accept
their aftermark
Guess I need to get on the eldest about getting a spare key for his 2011 Ford
Escape. He’s only got one key.

My W163 (2003) has a multi button switchblade (my W140 has the original
single button switch
Just had to get a new key for the Focus. Ford dealer wouldn't touch it,
said they can't do anything with cars over 10 years old. Big strike
against ever buying a Ford again, even though I've been pretty happy
with the Focus overall.
Local locksmith came to the car with a mobile programming device
Without the chip aint movin nowheres. Easy enough to get it in neutral though
to drag it around. I’d give $100 for it, strip it down, sell the scrap
