I cut my journalistic teeth on linotype machines before drifting away to
geology. I was always fascinated by the Rube Goldberg complexity of them,
including the little swimming pool of melted antimony (lead?)

Andrew, CDL is commercial as in semi truck license and also requires a medical

Dan, the type lead we keep as type ... there is no great market for type so I
hoard it up to use when I print something which I do sometimes

As for the Linotype lead it sells for at least $2 a lb on ebay ... it is this
alloy

https://www.rotometals.com/linotype-alloy-alloy-5-pounds-4-tin-12-antimony-and-84-lead/

They are selling it for $4 lb

Maybe price is up

I’ll sell it to you guys too

Good for your Linotype or Ludlow machine or for your bullet mold

[MBZ] lead

2015-10-17 Thread Rick Hawkins Java via Mercedes
Folks

I have a lot of lead as in several tons of Linotype metal (4% Tin, 12% Antimony
and 84% Lead)

It is in the form of standing type forms (strips of type) and is clean and
ready to melt to make sinkers or bullets. I think the bullet people like the
hardness of the alloy.

I have mostly been selling it on ebay for $2/lb plus shipping. It can be
shipped relatively cheaply in USPS flat rate boxes …. 14 or 15 lbs fits in the
small one that ships for less than $6 …. move in the larger boxes, but it has
to be packed very securely.

If any of you need some, feel free to contact me directly.
thanks,

xx rick

Last I heard, 80/87 was about six bucks per gallon and a car with an oxygen
sensor can't use leaded fuel.

My 74 is pre-cat made for leaded gas engine.  I believe 74 was the final yr for
leaded at least in MBZ's.   Thirsty but worth it...225 hp & can break the rear
end loose in all gears.

DBV, old and grey in a chick magnet what a waste information minister
