Speaking of the delivery valve resealng, my '91 300D
2.5 is leaking fuel around #3 and #4 delivery valves.
How much involved is to reseal these things? And what
parts and tools I would need? Thanks.

Broken ball pin in #1 will do strange things for running, pull the 
injector and check to see if it's in place.  Poopy injector shouldn't 
cause fuel dilution of the amount you describe, more like a couple 
precent, as it evaporates to a large extent.

calibrating fluid from? I will need to re-up pretty soon.

The only source for serious dilution is the IP. You may have an issue with
the pump itself or more likely, the fuel pump that's bolted to the side of
the IP has a cracked diaphragm.
