in a particular engine. It would be confusing to call the HCCI engines
diesels because people would assume that they run on diesel.

I believe Mercedes changed their rust-prevention procedures on the
later chassis, from roughly the mid-1990's forward. Why do that? The
main motivation was probably cost savings. (Yeah - BAD decision!) But
there could have possibly been some environmental concerns as well.

Mercedes did have some paint problems in the late nineties. They where
trying to use a more enviromentally paint on their cars and it just was not
up to the job. Plenty of W210 owners not happy. Not sure about the other
classes so much but I have seen plenty of pics of 210's with unacceptable

This sounds like a classic case of a failed or failing cruise
amplifier. New ones are outrageously expensive ($600+ wholesale!). You
should be able to get a rebuilt unit for under $200 last time I

I have not been paying attention. If your trunk lock is stuck, you can
get it open by selecting the tail light that is in the worse shape,
busting it out completely then reaching in thru the opening to gain
access to the panel that covers the locking mechanism and unlock it from
the inside.
