Anyone have any good suggestions on researching auto safety records? I have been looking online but it seems to be more difficult than it ought to be. I keep coming up with information on new vehicles but little on used ones. The powers that be want me to believe that a tiny new car is safer

That's not even possible. The trans bolts to the disk which is then bolted to the shaft. If the disk lets go there is nothing attaching. I don't see how it would stay together. You should not need to limp it home because of all the noise it would make for many many miles before it actually
