You have to have a good conductor plate, a good connection out of the
transmission,
and a good TCM. In the W210, the TCM is prone to filling with transmission oil
that wicks
up the cable from bad seals in the connector. The goo eventually dissolves
parts in the
TCM, which is Not Good. I

I have replaced 2 CPs (I’m assuming this is a 722.6?) and that usually resolves
problems. Could it be a solenoid? Is the speed sensor a separate part in the
CP, I can’t remember. Or maybe the TCM itself is bad? You could try swapping
one, should be plenty in junkyards or eBay for not much.

is dead you get limp-home, which is 2nd and R only in the transmission. (These
