Is the dash on an MB vinyl? I thought it was just regular old plastic.
Anyway, up here in the frozen north dashes don't crack. The only cracked dash
cars I've had came from the south.
I do follow up the windex cleaning with 303...

Typical behavior that I experienced there as well. There’s no logic to many of

The trick with paper towels is to not be stingy. I get the windshield good and
wet, then use one towel to smear the windex all around and pick up the goo.
Then three or four more to get all the windex off.
I save the wet towels to clean the dash and such...

The older models, (XJ140, XKE, etc.) were fairly easy to service, as raising
the bonnet pretty much exposed the whole engine and front frame. You just had
to be careful not to bang your head on the XKE bonnet. XKE bonnets were very
heavy and not well balanced as far as the pivot point for

We had an XKE in the shop I worked in while in school. It had hit a deer
and been repaired. The bonnet was HEAVY - we figured there must have been 5
gallons of bondo on it.

Since I had the DAS hooked up I went through the procedure to reset the new
conductor plate/TCM. I can’t drive the car since it’s slammed but I got no
error codes so that’s progress. It seemed to shift easily enough into D and R.

One of the more less known functions of DAS and transmissions is the “fill
time” parameter that’s listed for the car. It’s a really good way to get an
idea of wear on the transmission, as when it wears the fill times increase and
get towards the end of the time ranges.

So I reached out to the guy. Says he wants to buy a Maserati (!!!) and just

deal, sent me more pics and VIN and such. The S550 has 160k CLK 250k, high but
for the money… he says they run and drive for whatever that’s
