Not threatening, they’ll do it. At least they used to. I know of a couple of
instances where we did it and they cancelled our return leg.

F- it. We rebooked and still paid less. The privileges of corporate travel.

Last I knew airlines were threatening to cancel your return trip if you missed
a flight midway. They have some super BS excuse for not letting you do it that
boils down to "We don't like it when people game the system."

Re: [MBZ] OT Airlines: Why de do dat?

2018-04-10 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I used to do this a lot when I flew for business, as you would often get
screwed flying into airports that were hubs, such as Minneapolis or SFO. I
could fly from MKE to SEA via MSP for maybe $300. To fly to from MKE to MSP
might be $500+.

We would often book trips that overlapped to do this when our schedules
permitted it. Otherwise, if you booked a round trip and terminated before your
destination a lot of airlines will cancel the whole itinerary. Of course,
you’ve got to carry on your baggage as someone mentioned previously.

What happens more often is that its cheaper to fly to a layover spot without
making the next leg. So say for instance I really wanted to go to Charlotte,
sometimes its cheaper to book a flight to Miami through Charlotte than it is to
go to Charlotte. So people just stop at the mid-point. Obviously you can only
do it if you carry on your bags otherwise they end up in Miami...
Airlines are super cracking down on that now, I don't understand why though,
its cheaper for them to not fly me that second leg...
