All these caveats as to why this or that won't work.
Take OKDon perspective mentioned in the thread about airplane car.
Not all things are for all uses.  It might be nice to have a
single-purpose car instead of an all-purpose car.  We are a wealthy
lot, we can afford multiple vehicles.

6mph is slow, but a two hour runtime is pretty amazing. 

I can remember Honda sponsoring a sort of science fair
20-30 years ago and one of the winners was a kid who
built a gas engine go-kart into a hard shell suitcase. 
You unfolded the case and locked it open, put your butt
in one half of the shell and your feet in the other...
