You sure you didn't blow the wiring to yours? With the ACC set to OFF,
there should be 12V on the plug to the monovalve. It should be strong
enough to light a lamp, etc.

2018-02-09 Thread Michael Esh via Mercedes
Hi Andrew,
I finally installed the solenoid you sent me. Unfortunately it is non
functional. After installing and seeing no change in in my heating issue, I
took it back out and tried to activate using 12 volts from my battery to the
connector posts on the solenoid and there was no response. It should pop the
valve up and down upon application of electricity. There was zero action. I
ended up getting another one locally and will be testing it later today.
I will gladly to pay for shipping and the trouble you went through to send me
the items. Just let me know the amount and where to send.
Thanks again for your effort,
Mike

Classic symptoms of damaged diaphragm in the monovalve.

That's pretty heinous. Could there have been galvanic action driven by the
botched wiring to the solenoid?

I wondered about the fluid as well. I’ll have it tested tomorrow. It is the
right color but I don’t remember if I have ever changed it in this car. The
odd thing is that I did not see this build up 2 weeks earlier when I had the
part out to check for holes in the diaphragm.

Cooper sulfate. Corrosion from copper or brass. Do you have good Go5
in the radiator at the proper ratio?

I just replaced the damaged mono valve on the car. The one I just took
out has a blue/green crusty substance all over the screen and any
metal part. This is new in the last week. This stuff was not there a
week ago. What would cause this? The only change was putting a valve
in with poorly soldered solenoid. I pulled it apart last week and
ruined the connections.
The latest symptoms are good heat at below 2000 RPM’s but then heat
would cut out completely at any thing over 2000. Fan would stay on
just heat out the vents.
I’ll test out the new monovave assembly I received from Andrew
tomorrow morning.
