Re: [MBZ] And now for something completely different (not OT) - R/R W123 coolant hose

2015-06-10 Thread Michael Esh via Mercedes
My 85 300D was doing the same thing. I discovered the bendy line from the
drivers side block to the heater line had a crack in it. It would only have a
notable leak when coolant was full. I kept filling it up every couple of days
before I left for work and would not see any leaks. I finally filled it when it
was hot, I think I had the heater running, and noticed the leak. I loosened the
cap and ordered a new hose from Gary. All is well now.

If it doesn't have any molded bends in it and Goodyear or Gates quality is
 good

you can just take it off, and have the guys at FLAPS cut an appropriate

 a

 selling you

 good
enough for you (5-10 year life vs maybe 10-20 for factory)
you can just take it off, and have the guys at FLAPS cut an appropriate
 piece
off a roll of bulk hose to match it. Hopefully if it isn't close enough to
 a
common inch denominated side to do that, they'll tell you instead of
 selling you
 a too-large hose.

If you want it RIGHT, go here and look it up.
You have to give them a credit card to activate a free one year
 subscription,
 IIRC.

Re: [MBZ] And now for something completely different (not OT) - R/R W123 coolant hose

2015-06-09 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes

How do I get a part number for it? Or do I simply order generic (approx.
1 dia.) coolant hose and cut it to match?

If it doesn't have any molded bends in it and Goodyear or Gates quality is good
enough for you (5-10 year life vs maybe 10-20 for factory)
